KEREMEOS WEATHER

Keremeos is located at the crossroads of BC Highway 3 and 3A, you’ll see it when you start seeing the dozens of fruit stands along the roads. The well-known Okanagan-grown produce, such as apples, cherries, peaches, pears and more are grown in this warm, dry town, with much of their produce being shipped across BC, giving Keremeos the honour of being both the “fruit stand capital of Canada” and, thanks to its ever-blowing winds to keep pests and mildew away, the “organic fruit stand capital of Canada”. There is a natural and wholesome way of living here, with the entire horizon as your backyard. The people living here are hard-working, with many of them working with horses and cattle on the several ranches surrounding the area.

THE TOWN

The picturesque community’s semi arid climate offers a rich agricultural lifestyle that features densely packed fruit and vegetable stands and unique wineries. Keremeos is situated along the Similkameen River where the tall surrounding mountains provide a beautiful backdrop that’s perfect for any photo op. Area attractions include local wineries, popular Grist Mill and the historic red bridge that leads to Cathedral Provincial Park. Nearby Twin Lakes golf course and Apex Mountain ski resort offer outdoor activities in their respective summer and winter seasons. 

There are several festivals throughout the year, including the Keremeos Elks Rodeo and the Similkameen Sizzlin’ Pepper Festival, and an endless supply of fresh, local food at your disposal in a town where your neighbours are your friends and life moves at your own pace.

The fruit stands turn into beautifully orange painted pumpkin patch’s during the fall season offering families to come outdoors and search for their perfect pumpkin. Keremeos has a population of approximately 1,900+ and is the 2nd largest town in the Similkameen Valley. The town is a short 30 minute commute from the city of Penticton, providing opportunities for work, shopping and the Penticton Regional Airport. The community is an excellent opportunity to purchase affordable, small town BC real estate in a mild climate that’s next to the South Okanagan Valley.

The South Okanagan Real Estate board reported the average sale price in Keremeos and area at $484,000 for 2021. Values have been increasing steadily since 2016.

HOW TO GET THERE


Sitting at the Eastern end of the Similkameen Valley, Keremeos is approximately 2 hours, 45 min from Chilliwack BC and is located at the doorstep of the South Okanagan with an easy 30 minute drive to Penticton and Osoyoos.
